Katelyn (Bishop) Harrison enters her second season at the helm of Belmont University Volleyball in 2020.

"After an extensive national search, I am pleased to announce the hiring of Katelyn Harrison as the next head coach of Belmont volleyball," Director of Athletics Scott Corley said. "Katelyn has a strong pedigree as a top assistant at one of the most consistent and high-achieving programs in the country, as well as invaluable experience as a player at the highest levels of college and the national program. She is an excellent recruiter and technical coach; huge assets for our program on the court. Additionally, Katelyn understands the importance of bringing in young women that will excel in the classroom and the community. I am confident Katelyn can return Belmont volleyball to a championship level, and look forward to working with her."

Harrison comes to Belmont after spending five seasons at the College of Charleston. During her time in the Holy City, the Cougar program enjoyed remarkable success: posting a 115-51 record - including a 60-20 mark in league matches - two conference championships (1 SoCon, 1 CAA), two NCAA Tournament appearances, and a run to the 2018 National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) Final Four.

The 2017 Cougars went 27-6, recorded a top 50 RPI, and earned the first NCAA Volleyball Championship at-large bid in the history of the Colonial Athletic Association.

During Harrison's tenure, College of Charleston defeated seven opponents from Power 5 conferences, including Miami (FL) in the 2012 NCAA Volleyball Championship. She coached 13 All-CAA honorees, two American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Americans, and the last two Colonial Athletic Association Players of the Year.

"I am extremely excited and humbled to be named the next head coach for Belmont volleyball," Harrison said. "I would like to thank Dr. Fisher, Scott Corley, Renee Schultz and the entire search committee for this incredible opportunity, and their belief in me. It was clear from the moment I stepped foot on this campus and met all the quality people who are committed to making Belmont the best in the OVC, that this is a special place that I wanted to be a part of. My family and I are excited to get to Nashville and I am looking forward to empowering these young women to be successful in their athletic careers, their academics and their lives after college."

A native of Terre Haute, Indiana, the former Katelyn Bishop was among the most heralded prep prospects in the nation. She played three years with the United State Girls' Youth National Team, winning the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) championship and finishing fourth in the World Championships.

After being named Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year, two-time AAU All-American and Volleyball Magazine 'Fab 50' selection, Harrison went on to a standout career at the University of Southern California. Her Trojan teams earned trips to the NCAA Final Four in 2004 and 2007.

Earning her bachelor's degree in psychology, Harrison later earned a Juris Doctorate from Campbell Law School in May of 2012.

Harrison and her husband, Jordan, have one son, Jace, and live in Nashville.
