NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Following a 687-day hiatus from indoor competition, the Belmont University women's track and field team returns to indoor meet action this weekend just 1.2 miles from campus. The Bruins open their 2021-22 campaign at Vanderbilt University's Commodore Challenge inside the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility Friday and Saturday, Jan. 14-15.

The two-day meet will get started Friday afternoon with field events and continue throughout the evening capped with the 5000m run. Saturday's events will get underway at midday with the pole vault and conclude in the late afternoon with 4x400m relays.

Cost of admission to the indoor meet is $5 at the door with children 10 and under gaining free admittance. Free parking is available in the 25th Avenue parking garage via the Highland Avenue entrance.

Beginning its indoor season with back-to-back meets in the Music City, Belmont will have 17 competitors across 12 track and field events this weekend. The Bruins will be represented in the high jump, weight throw, 200m, 1000m, 300m, 5000m, pole vault, 60m hurdles, triple jump, one mile run, shot put and 4x400m relay.

Sade Alalade and Jeanette Morley will get Belmont going with the high jump Saturday afternoon before throwers Rebekah Stucker and Jessica Mattsson are in action. Savanah Balcerak will be the Bruins' first track athlete competing when she takes on the 200m sprint, and Lilly Hallum, Emory Moore, Sarah Richmond, Michella Diebenow, Georgia Cockerham, Grace Litzinger, Katie Flaherty and Kaitlyn Vanderkolk will wrap up day one in running events.

Vaulters Tyra Finkeldey and Maeve Carei will start Saturday's schedule at noon before Diebenow, Alalade and Cockerham compete in the 60m hurdles. Morgan Louderback and Brooke Garter will be Belmont's lone competitors in the triple jump and one mile run, respectively, as Stucker and thrower Olivia Moyer close out the field events with the shot put. Balcerak, Moore, Richmond, Diebenow, Cockerham and Alalade are all signed up for the 4x400m relay, which will complete the meet.
