NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Belmont women's tennis program announces the signing of Gina Feistel for the 2021-22 season.
Feistel is a native of Walldorf, Germany and is currently ranked #235 in the German women's rankings and #495 in the ITF Junior Rankings.
Gina has competed on both the German and ITF Junior Circuits. She won the Under 14 Baden-Württemberg Federal State Championship and her team won the Federal State Championship in 2018. On the ITF Circuit during the last two years, she won two doubles titles at the J4 Overath and J5 Puszczykowo events and finished third in singles at the J4 Szczecin and J5 Offenbach tournaments.
"When we first talked to Gina, we knew she was the kind of player we were looking for," said Maurucio Antun, Belmont's Director of Tennis. "Not only her results are outstanding, but her drive to become a better player and her goals in tennis align with where this program is going. I am super excited she decided to join us and she will make a huge impact in our team."
Feistel is the first German to play women's tennis at Belmont.
The 2020-21 season marked a new era for the women's tennis program with the opening of the on-campus Belmont Tennis Complex and the Crockett Center for Athletic Excellence, which will house the tennis programs. For the 2021-22 season, they will return four players, including All-OVC honoree, Somer Henry.
