NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont women's tennis junior Somer Henry garnered Ohio Valley Conference women's tennis Player of the Week honors, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
The Franklin, Tenn. native tabbed a perfect 4-0 record in singles and doubles competition against Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville last weekend.
Henry opened the road swing with a 7-6 (7-4) doubles victory alongside senior Drew Hawkins against the Panthers on Friday. She wrapped up the dominant 4-1 match win over the Panthers with a 6-3, 6-1 victory in straight sets from the No. 1 singles spot.
On Saturday, Henry and Hawkins combined for another win in the second doubles position with an impressive 6-2 finish against the Cougars. Henry then registered a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory from the top singles spot once again.
With the award, the Bruins (5-7, 2-3 OVC) have raked in two conference player of the week honors this season.
