Season Opening Preview

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team opens the 2020 spring season with a pair of home bouts versus Cumberland (Tenn.) on Saturday and Campbell on Monday.

The Bruins were recently picked to finish fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference by the league's coaches this week. Belmont finished the 2019 spring season with a 12-9 (5-3, OVC) record, good for a fourth-place finish in the conference.

"I am excited for this weekend. We had a good week of practice and we will get a chance to play our first match of the season at home, which is always fun," said two-time OVC Coach of the Year Mauricio Antun. "Both Cumberland and Campbell are good teams, so we are looking forward to seeing our women back on the court after a solid fall season."

Overall, the Bruins return eight players from last year's squad, as they added two highly-decorated newcomers in junior transfer Somer Henry and freshman Taylor Trondson.

Saturday's contest will be held just down the road at Ensworth Tennis Center, while Belmont will finish out the homestand at Centennial Sportsplex on Monday
