NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont women's soccer senior Alison Alcott (Dallas, Texas) received another postseason honor recently. The defender was named to the 2014 NSCAA Women's University Division Scholar All-South Region Second Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Most recently, the Dallas, Texas native was named to the 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's All-South Region Third Team. She also garnered Capital One Academic All-America® honors, becoming only the second Belmont women's soccer player and the 21st Belmont student-athlete to earn the recognition. Alcott also received the prestigious OVC Scholar Athlete Award, the highest individual honor that can be earned by OVC student-athletes, and is given annually to three men and three women student-athletes for their accomplishments in both the classroom and athletic arena, and because of their leadership qualities.
Alcott was a Second Team All-OVC selection in 2013 and was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week on October 29 that season. She played in every match of her collegiate career, starting all but four, and has served as the team captain. In the classroom, she compiled a 3.965 grade point average in Nursing with a minor in Spanish. Alcott has earned Dean's List honors multiple times and is a two-time OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll selection. She also earned the same distinction from the Atlantic Sun Conference.
At the conclusion of the 2013-14 season, she earned the OVC Medal of Honor for having the highest GPA in her sport.
