NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The awards keep rolling in for Belmont women's soccer freshman Belicia Mendiola (McKinney, Texas) after her outstanding play to close the 2014 regular season. She was tabbed the OVC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
This is the second time during her rookie campaign Mendiola has been tabbed the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
The forward collected her second multi-goal game of the season, finding the back of the net twice in Belmont's victory on the road at in-state rival Austin Peay last weekend. She tallied five shots in the win, four of which were on goal. She now ranks among the league's top 10 in goals with a team-leading eight. Mendiola is also ranked 125th among all NCAA Division I players in goals per game.
Earlier on Tuesday, Mendiola was tabbed the CollegeSportsMadness.com OVC Player of the Week.
The Bruins wrapped the 2014 season with a 7-7-4 overall record and a 4-4-2 mark in the OVC.
