NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's soccer team (6-7-4, 3-4-2 OVC) will wrap the 2014 regular season on the road at in-state rival Austin Peay (4-12-1, 3-5-1) on Friday night.
Austin Peay will hope to snap a four-match winless streak and play spoiler when it hosts Belmont on Friday night. The Governors stand at 4-12-1 overall and 3-5-1 in OVC play.
APSU is led in scoring by Gina Fabbro, who has scored six times this season. Sophia Fabbro and Claire Pultz are tied with three assists each to lead the team. Between the posts, Nikki Filippone has done the lion's share of the work, logging over 1,802 minutes. She has grabbed 77 saves, has a GAA of 2.00 and has recorded three shutouts.
The Govs lead the all-time series, 5-1-2, and have won the last three matchups between the programs, including a 3-1 win in Nashville one year ago.
Belmont will look to better its chances to return to the OVC Tournament when it travels to in-state rival Austin Peay on Friday night. The Bruins stand at 3-4-2 in OVC play and 6-7-4 overall.
BU has been led in scoring all season by freshman Belicia Mendiola (McKinney, Texas) after finding the back of the net six times so far. She also leads the team in assists with a total of three. Between the posts, junior Lindsey Espe (LaCañada, Calif.) leads the charge, logging over 1,157 minutes. She has a GAA of 1.09 with 49 saves and four shutouts.
