NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Belmont women's soccer team (5-11, 4-6 A-Sun) sent it's seniors off in fine fashion on Saturday afternoon at Whitten Soccer Complex. The Bruins picked up their second shutout of the season and handed rival Lipscomb (4-14, 0-10 A-Sun) its 10th consecutive loss with their 4-0 victory.
Belmont's goals were scored by senior Jayme Trocino, who netted two, and freshman Amy Jo Anderson, senior Erica Carter.
"This is exactly how you want to end a season," said Head Coach Lisa Howe. "It was great to give our seniors a good game to end their careers on. I was proud of our seniors creating goals and scoring goals today. It also showed us how much we missed Jayme and her ability to finish."
"This class has brought our program to a new level," Howe continued. "Just because we didn't meet our team goal does not reflect on their team career. They have improved us exponentially."
Belmont dominated in shots, 27-4, and corner kicks, 9-0.
Senior Madison Porter (Marietta, Ga.) led the Bruins with four shots, followed by classmates Jayme Trocino (Franklin, Tenn.), Erica Carter (Spring, Texas), and juniors Gretchen Sutch (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Jamie Loftis (Hermitage, Tenn.) and freshman Amy Jo Anderson (Birmingham, Ala.) each adding three shots.
Freshman Nicole Berner (Randolph, N.J.) went the distance to improve to 5-5 on the season. She finished with two saves.
The Bruins wrap the 2010 campaign with a 5-11 overall record and a 4-6 Atlantic Sun mark.
