NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's golf team returns to action this week as they compete in the APSU Intercollegiate held Monday and Tuesday at Clarksville Country Club in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The Bruins have been off for a couple of weeks after finishing second at the Morehead State/Greenbrier Invitational. At that event, they improved their score every day and were the only team to post a sub-300 score. Senior Julia Nittoli won her first career individual title after shooting a 217 over 54-hole holes. For her efforts, she was named OVC Golfer of the Week.
Nittoli leads the team in scoring with a 72.3 average, which also puts her second in the OVC rankings. Sophomore Katelyn Dunstan is second on the squad with a mark of 76.0, which places her among the top-15 in the league.
This week's APSU Intercollegiate, hosted by Austin Peay, is a two-day, 54-hole event with 36 holes contested on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. It will be held at Clarksville Country Club and the course will play to a par 72 and a length of 5,965 yards.
The field features nine teams, including the likes of Evansville, IUPUI, North Alabama, Valparaiso, Western Carolina and four OVC squads: host Austin Peay, Belmont, Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech.
This is the 16th consecutive year Belmont has played in this event. In that time, they have had two team championships and 11 top-five finishes.
Day one play will begin Monday morning at 8:00am. Live scoring can be found at BelmontBruins.com or Golfstat.com.
