Nov. 23 USA Today Sports/WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Following a pair of road victories and a home opening win, the Belmont University women's basketball team is receiving a vote in the first USA Today Sports/WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) Top 25 Coaches Poll of the regular season, which was released Tuesday afternoon. The Bruins, who are off to 3-2 start to their 2021-22 campaign, already own a road triumph over a power conference program receiving votes in the national coaches poll.

After an 88-70 win at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to open the season, Belmont defeated receiving-votes Ole Miss 62-50 in Oxford, Mississippi, on Nov. 11. The victory marked the second consecutive year the Bruins defeated a Southeastern Conference team on the road after besting Auburn last December in Alabama.

Last Thursday night, Belmont hosted Alabama A&M in the Bruins' first home game in 270 days and claimed its fifth-straight home opening win with a dominant 63-34 victory. Belmont improved to 97-20 (.829) inside the Curb Event Center since 2012-13 with the win.

In their last four outings, the Bruins have not allowed more than 58 points and Belmont currently ranks 13th nationally in three-point field goal defense with opponents shooting just 19 percent from beyond the arc. The Bruins also currently rank among national leaders in three-pointers made (19th) and attempted (8th).

Belmont was ranked No. 4 with one first-place vote in last week's Mid-Major Top 25® poll. A new mid-major poll is set to be released Tuesday night.

For the first time in program history, the Bruins received four votes in the preseason USA Today Sports/WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. Belmont received votes in each of the last six USA Today/WBCA Top 25 polls of the 2017-18 season, reaching a program-high No. 25 ranking back-to-back weeks in March of 2018.

The Bruins have either been ranked or received votes in at least one of the two major national polls for seven consecutive seasons.

Five of Belmont's 11 non-conference opponents are either ranked or receiving votes in the Nov. 23 USA Today Sports/WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll – No. 7 Louisville, No. 25 Georgia Tech, [rv] UCF (10), [rv] Ole Miss (3), [rv] Arkansas (2).

Following a week-long break from game action, the Bruins take on receiving-votes Arkansas Sunday night in the Natural State. Tipoff from Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas, is set for 7 p.m. with the road matchup broadcast on SEC Network+.

Belmont season tickets, which include the entire men's and women's basketball home schedule, are on sale now at, in addition to flex packs, single game tickets and group experiences. Fans can also call or text 615.460.BALL (2255).
