Danny Hester begins his third season as a full-time assistant coach for the Belmont tennis programs.
"I am extremely excited to announce Danny Hester as our new assistant coach," said Antun. "He was a big part of our success with both the men's and women's teams last spring and I am confident he will play an even bigger role this coming season to help us achieve our goals. He is very smart, knows how to develop our players, can relate to them very well, and is deeply invested in our program. I look forward to continue working with him and see what we can accomplish with both programs this year."
Hester was instrumental in the men's team's success in 2021, where the Bruins captured the OVC Tournament Championship and reached its second NCAA Tournament as a team in program history. Hester was also instrumental in developing Marko Ilic, who claimed the 2021 OVC Player of the Year award, in addition to Tomas Luis and Arthur Toledo, who were named to the All-OVC Second Team.
Danny is no stranger to the programs as he served as a part-time assistant coach during the 2018-2019 season, helping the men's team to an OVC regular season championship and the women's squad to their most wins in nearly 15 years.
A Nashville area native, Hester has been a part of the local tennis community for many years. An accomplished junior player, he helped capture two state championships for Brentwood High School.
While earning a bachelor's degree in materials engineering at Auburn University, Danny competed as a member of the university's club tennis travel team that won a National Championship in 2016.
Hester resides in Nashville.
