TULSA, Okla.- The doubles team of Hendrik Inno and Marko Ilic fell short in the Round of 32 at the ITA Tennis All-American Championship on Wednesday, losing to Richard Ciamarra and Tristan McCormick of Notre Dame, 6-3, 6-0.
"We simply didn't serve up to our standard. Full credit to Notre Dame," Director of Tennis Mauricio Antun said. "At this level, there is no time for dwelling on one result. Hendrik and Marko are resilient and have proven that at a national level. We will prepare for our next match."
Notre Dame took a 4-1 lead in set one, but Inno and Illic rallied to force a deuce and take the following game. Inno and Ilic managed to rally for another game victory, cutting the Notre Dame lead 4-3.
Ciamarra and McCormick, however, rallied to collect eight straight game victories to claim sets one and two and move onto the quarterfinals.
Inno and Ilic now head to the consolation bracket of the championship. They will face Andrea Bolla and Tim Ruehl of Arizona State in their first consolation match on Thursday afternoon at approximately 3:00pm CT. Check BelmontBruins.com or @BelmontTennis on Twitter for updates.
