NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont men's soccer senior Creaghan Diekema garnered 2019 Academic All-District Team honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced this week.
The all-district team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Diekema was named to the All-District 3 First Team, which advances him to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Honorees for All-America will be named in early December.
Diekema holds a 3.93 grade point average with a double-major in Accounting and Finance at Belmont. He is also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on campus and tutors business classes on the side.
At the beginning of the year, Diekema was named one of 167 student-athletes in the Southern Conference to log a perfect 4.0 grade point average in the 2018-19 season. He has the second-most career matches played (61) and started (53) by any Bruin on the team.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada and separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.
