No Fish Out of Water

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University Director of Athletics Scott Corley announced Friday the promotion of David Fish to the position of associate athletic director for marketing.

Fish, a fixture within Belmont University Athletics and the campus community, will oversee all corporate sponsorship, licensing, ticketing, marketing and promotions related to the Bruin athletic program.

"Since his days as a Belmont student, David's passion for Belmont Athletics has been undeniable," Corley said. "This promotion reflects his vast contributions to our program to date, but also speaks to the belief we have in David to take areas of revenue generation and attendance to another level. David's energy, work ethic and strategic thinking will be relied upon in the months and years to come."

For the past six years, Fish has spearheaded Belmont's efforts for increased fan engagement and student participation at athletic events, first as assistant director of athletic marketing and most recently as director of athletic marketing.

The Bruin program has seen year over year increases in season ticket accounts, basketball ticket revenue and home attendance for all Bruin home events. In particular, Fish's leadership yielded overwhelming gains in student and alumni attendance, directly tied to new initiatives such as the Bruin Rewards mobile app and ZipWhip text messaging customer service platform.

"I am extremely grateful to Mr. Corley and our Belmont senior leaders for their confidence in my abilities to lead our marketing efforts as we move forward," Fish said. "As an alumnus who believes wholeheartedly in our mission, I am humbled and excited to continue passionately serving Belmont, our student-athletes and our community in this new role."

This past year, Belmont and Fish were selected as part of the inaugural National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) 3 Pillars at Work program, providing qualifying members a unique educational experience in conjunction with the Marketing Team of the Year Award. Fish attended Auburn University home athletic events around the Tigers' football home date vs. Liberty.

In addition, Belmont received consecutive annual grants from the NCAA for outstanding marketing and promotion of NCAA Division I women's basketball.

Belmont has received several NACMA 'Best of' awards during Fish's tenure, most recently the 2017 'Best Fan Giveaway' promotion.

Previously, Fish spent one year as director of young alumni programming at Belmont after five years in administration within the Middle Tennessee YMCA and Nashville youth soccer.

Fish, a Paducah, Kentucky native, earned his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and master's degree in sport administration from Belmont.
