NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Junior women's basketball player Ellie Harmeyer (Kenosha, Wisc.) and sophomore field athlete Cal Widener (Elmhurst, Ill.) have been named Trane Belmont Student-Athletes of the Month for February.
Harmeyer has made her presence known in the OVC during the month of January as she has helped the Bruins to a 9-1 conference record. She is averaging 18.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in the OVC play and has been named OVC Player of the Week three times. Ellie leads BU in scoring and rebounding and ranks in the top-12 in the OVC in five different statistical categories.
Widener was one the men's track team's top performers during the month of January. At the Thundering Herd Invitational, he won the shot put and finished second in the weight throw. Then a week later at MTSU, Cal posted another first place showing in the shot put and was runner-up in the weight throw. For the indoor season up to this point, he has six top-10 finishes.
