Peyton Paces the Bruins at the ITA Regional

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Belmont women's tennis team finished the second day of play at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship in Chattanooga on Friday.    

The team earned eight more wins on Friday, including consolation rounds, making it an overall total of 14 wins for the Bruins. 

In the third round of Flight B doubles, sophomore Sarah Brackin and senior Mical Johnson went head-to-head with the doubles team of Tshatedi/Bandy from Lipscomb ultimately falling to them 8-7.

In Flight B singles, freshmen Peyton Lee and Lauren Carelli were finally ready to take to the court after first round byes.  Lee defeated Mariella Pessina from IUPUI 6-2, 6-1 to advance, while Carelli put up a good fight against Lily Holmes from UT Chattanooga, but ultimately fell 6-3, 6-4.

Lee is the only Bruin left in the field and will take on Claire Sullivan of Memphis in the Flight B quarterfinals.  Her match is set for 9:00am ET.  If she advances to the semifinals, that match will take place on Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm.
