Softball Set for First Conference Road Swing
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--- The Belmont softball team will open Atlantic Sun Conference play with a four game road-swing this weekend, beginning with a double header at USC Upstate Friday afternoon. The first game is set to begin at 3 p.m. CST.
The Bruins will enter conference play with a 7-18 record coming off of two midweek losses at Western Kentcuky. After taking on USC Upstate in Spartanburg, Belmont will head to Johnson, Tenn., for a double-header with East Tennessee State University on Saturday. The first game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. CST.
Belmont will face a tough challenge in the first conference game against league-leading USC Upstate (28-3). The Bruins are 1-5 against the Spartans all-time. This will be only the second trip to Spartanburg in the series for the Bruins and the first in the last four meetings. Belmont earned their only win in the series on their previous trip to Spartanburg.
The Bruins have fared slighty better against the second opponent this weekend in ETSU. Belmont is 2-10 against the Bucaneers, but earned a 5-0 win in the last meeting between the two teams. The Bruins are 0-4 at ETSU all time.
The week has been full of road games for the Bruins, who opened with a double header at Western Kentucky. Belmont is 2-4 in road games this season. The Bruins will be back in Nashville next week for the opening of Rose Park. The inaugural game in the new stadium will be a double header against Samford, with the first game scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Belmont will host Campbell on April 2nd for the first home conference game.
