NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont women's soccer head coach Heather Henson announced a challenging slate of games for the Bruins this spring, building off the team's momentum during the fall which saw them advance to the Atlantic Sun Tournament after a two-year absence.
"We look forward to our spring schedule and matching up against some high level programs," said Henson. "This spring we will be able to improve upon our success from the fall and get all of our players some valuable minutes. All of our young ladies have been working hard in the off season and it will be good for them to compete in the upcoming games."
The Bruins open play on Saturday, March 17 at E.S. Rose Park hosting in-state rival Middle Tennessee State and future Ohio Valley Conference opponent Tennessee Tech. Belmont takes on MTSU at 10 am and concludes the day taking on the Golden Eagles at 4 pm. MTSU and Tennessee Tech face off at 1 pm.
BU will make an appearance at the Western Kentucky 7v7 Tournament on March 24 before returning to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt at Rose Park on March 29.
The Bruins then hit the road for a pair of contests on April 14 in Knoxville, where they will see action against Lincoln Memorial and another future OVC foe UT Martin. Belmont wraps the Spring with a stop at MTSU on April 21.
Belmont concluded its 2011 campaign with its first trip to the Atlantic Sun Tournament since 2009. The Bruins wrapped the season with an 8-8-1 overall record and a 5-3-1 mark in conference play.
