NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The accolades continue to roll in for Belmont women's basketball senior Haley Nelson (Scottsboro, Ala.). The 6-2 center was tabbed Atlantic Sun Player of the Week by both CollegeSportsMadness.com and NetScouts.com. It is the second time she has received the honor from College Sports Madness and this is the first nod she has received from Net Scouts.
Nelson's outstanding performance over the weekend helped the Bruins cement their hold on third place in the Atlantic Sun. Against UNF, the Scottsboro, Ala., native scored 14 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Two days later against Jacksonville, Nelson matched her career-high with a game-high 22 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
For the week, Nelson averaged 58.6 percent from the hardwood and shot at a 50 percent clip at the charity stripe. She also pulled down 25 rebounds and recorded eight assists, seven blocks, and four steals.
Nelson also continues to stand among the best statistically among all NCAA Division I players in a whopping six categories. Her highest rankings are 6th in double doubles (12), 28th in field-goal percentage (.532) and 40th in blocked shots per game (2.1). She is also ranked 79th in rebounds per game (8.7), 136th in points per game (15.3), and 222nd in steals per game (2.0).

Belmont returns to action on Saturday evening for part two of the Battle of the Boulevard at rival Lipscomb. The contest, which is slated for a 6:30 p.m. tip-off, will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
